How has your research helped?

Wesbsites:
Deconstructions websites has helped me with my own work as I now have inspiration that I can look back on when creating my own products to make sure mine follows the correct codes and conventions. When looking back at my deconstructions I can see the essential aspects I need or want to include. This will ensure I can achieve a high grade for my website design. The three deconstructions I have looked at have shown me a range of layouts and designs that I could possibly use. As I looked at fashion magazines it links in with my Prom genre it will clearly tell me the connotations that are needed and how they present products in a creative and unique way. For my own website I will be making it unique in order for it to be appealing to my target audience. In order to make it regional I will include local businesses around me.

Magazines:
The magazines I looked at greatly changed in layout and designs however I feel it was important to look at a range in order to gather the conventions of a page to decide which ones matched my genre and my target audience. This also gave me more inspiration as to how the magazines differ and why in layout, models and colour schemes to suit their purpose and their audience. Although I looked at fashion magazine I thought this would match my genre of prom and my target audience as there is not many prom magazines to take inspiration from other than teen prom which is an American company. Bright colours that are girly and clear images is one convention in which I wish to follow. I further want to make sure my layout is clear and does not seem cluttered and overcrowded but in return not being too simple and boring.

Billboard:
For the billboard deconstructions I looked at they all differed in style giving me a range of ideas and inspiration of ray own product when I come to create it. As I have never designed a billboard before and therefore these allowed me to learn the key elements that were needed in this production and how companies make them appealing to a specific target audience. I further received ideas of colour schemes and designs for my production. Following my deconstruction I wish to aspects from all of them and realised the the billboard only needs to contain the essential information with a eye catching colour scheme and image in order to catch the audiences attention as they will only see if for a second. It therefore needs to stick in their mind. I will also link my other products with the i.e the colour scheme and the brand name in order to make it recognisable to my target audience.

The layout of the clothing section is very organised and well presented for the audience. The different categories of clothing are listed down the left side of the page making them visible but not making it the main focus of the page. The images of the products are placed in rows so the  user can easily scroll up and down to view them without having s large collage of unorganised images. This may be too much to handle. There is also a brief bio under the page headlines in order to give more details on the page i.e. shoes or dresses. This breaks up the page and makes it more appealing rather than it just being. group of products. I think I will use this feature on my website in order to allow my target audience to know a little it abut the page other than making assumptions.

Deconstruction number 2 ;

The website for the clothing brand 'urban outfitters' is very user friendly with the navigation bar being very simple and clear to use. Looking around this website i like the size of the font as I felt it was clear and easy to read. This is a feature in which I will use when creating my own website. The logo of the company is in the to left order in order for it to be the first thing the target audience see and it therefore is an important feature on the creation of my own product. The logo must be the sam as the brand in order to connect them both together and be relatable to the target audience. this website has also included a search and sign in bar which makes the website more efficient and easy to navigate around the website in order to search what you are looking for. The sign in option also makes it more user friendly and promotes the brand further as once you create an account you will be offered better deals and can further track their purchases. The fonts used are all black and white making them contrast well against one another. As this is a special edition of the website the splash of colour catches the audiences attention and shows their is a special offer or feature on the website. The home page is very bright and colour which will further attract people as it is eye catching. The colour scheme is also consistent throughout which is a generic convention of a magazine in which I have decided to follow. The images located on the page are all clear and large to be seen. The text accommodating this links to the image i.e. the price or what the product is. The student section of the webpage explains the deals and offers for students phrasing online. This is effective as it targets the young adult audience and will increase the sale amounts. By making it bright and colourful  using pink and yellow to stand out more to the audience. The students have to register for this offer by showing clear instructions of their education. I will not include this as I feel it will not appeal to my genre nor my target audience.

Website deconstruction 2

Looking at this hyperlinked page in the navigation bar under the heading of' 'beauty' we can clearly see the pages follow the same layout and colour scheme as the homepage straight away. This enforces continuity and honest that everything is as It seems and therefore forms a connection in which symbolises the connection desired by the company to create between themselves and the audience. The colour scheme consists of black, white and pink. The colours black and white create a contrast with two different connotations. The white enforces purity and innocence while the black is mysterious and dangerous. This forms a contrast in the colours. However both of these colours symbolise class and sophistication whilst the colour pink is usually associated with the female gender. This links to represent the primary audience. The masthead is displayed in the top left third of the page and in a large and bold text so that it stands out. It is in a white font so that it creates a contrast against the background colour. The background image is of a girl getting her makeup done and this links back to the category of the page of beauty. Many people believe the key to beauty is behind makeup and presenting yourself to look the best. This only links to very highly influenced factor in which young people tend to face, self confidence issues suggesting women wear makeup to hide her issues.
