Article draft

Below is the article I created as part of my double page spread.
It’s that time of year when most high school students prepare for the final night with their year group. Girls spend the whole year preparing for it, picking out their potential dresses from magazines, looking at makeup and hairdos. Guys… who knows how they prepare so we’ll leave them out of it. A lot of people see prom as a be-all and end all experience and so get worked up over it, that when it doesn’t go according to their vision of how it should go down. They turned into promzilla. We caught up with Leoni Fowler, a former Southmoor Academy student to gather her experience from her prom night. Hi my name is Leoni and I thought I would share with you my prom night for you to know a true insight to the night that lies ahead and how I prepared for it. Near the end of year 10 I started to look at different styles and colours of dresses. Despite trying on hundreds of dresses I like different elements of each. My mom was amazing and allowed me to get a custom made dress. This allowed me to create a dress with all the elements of the dresses I liked. Once I had my dress in place I had to start to look at the smaller factors such as transport and booking in my hair appointment as it gets crowded and therefore extremely hard closer to the time. I decided on a simple, plaited up do that fell to the side of my head. I bought simple silver platform heels as they couldn’t be seen due to how my dress sat but I needed height. I'm tiny. My mum then went on to buy me a small, silver box clutch big enough to fit my prom ticket, lip-gloss, money and phone. The prom necessities for any girl. By this time it was March and it was just down to waiting for the day and my trails a week before. A week before prom I had an appointment book in order to have a trail on the hair and makeup I had selected I order to make sure I like it and it complimented my dress.  I feel this was a crucial part for my prom experience as I don’t know what I would of done if it got to the day and I Hated it. A tip I recommend is to definitely book I a trail appointments. To ensure this does not happen! However I loved it and now I waited in anticipation for the day. As it was something I had never done before I was excited. It was the last time I would be with the people I grew up with for 5 years all in one place. The night before prom I received a spray tan as my dress was light. I had received these in the past and therefore didn’t need a trail however I would recommend this also.  On the morning of prom I arrived at my appointment at around 1pm and my makeup followed at around half 3. By the time I was finished it was around 4pm and therefore I only had 2 hours to go before my transport arrived.    Once I arrived home      I put on my dress and shoes and my final accessories and   waited on the arrival   of my friends and family as we were travelling together in a limo. Hundreds of photos were took to capture the memories our prom was at the Ramside Hotel and the arrival insisted of hundreds of photos were took to capture the memories Our prom was at the Ramside Hotel and the arrival insisted of a red carpet leading up to the glass doorway. Another photo opportunity. Leading into the reception area there was a man with a white screen and a photo in which we could buy professional photographs. There was also a photo booth area. As you walked into the main room the table were set out and places assigned. With a dance floor in the centre which was greatly used throughout the night. As the night commenced everyone was up dancing, having fun and interacting. Was one of the perfect ways to end the 5 years of school with the whole of my year group. I loved prom and I hope you all do to. Enjoy it and don’t get stressed!
